Version 1.3.3 of the FastCache IIci CDEV updated the last minute additions and info file to provide the user with useful information.
• History of revisions:
Version 1.3.2 of the FastCache IIci CDEV updated PowerDemo to version 3.7 and updated the copywrite.
Version 1.3 of the FastCache IIci CDEV changed the name of SANE Traps to PowerMath, Updated PowerDemo to version 3.6 and corrected an intermittent problem with Radius Graphics Cards.
Version 1.2 of the FastCache IIci CDEV was for internal usage only.
Version 1.1 of the FastCache IIci CDEV made the software 32-bit clean.
• Troubleshooting Tips for the FastCache IIci:
1) Does it boot with our floppy?
No – Probable hardware problem. Check for proper installation.
2) Do you have a Bus Master type NuBus card? (Apple 8•24 GC, Radius QuickCAD, National Inst. GPIB)
Yes – Known FastCache IIci compatibility problem with early cards. Call DayStar Technical Support at (800)962-2077 for a free update.
3) Do you have a DaynaFile or Kennect Rapport/Drive 2.4 external floppy drive?
Yes – These drives do not follow Apple’s guidelines, suggest Apple SuperDrive.
4) Do you have a Switchboard keyboard from DataDesk?
Yes – Some Switchboards don’t work with System 6.0.5 or greater Call DataDesk at 800-826-5398 for a chip upgrade.
5) Are you having problems with BackFax or FaxGate from Solutions?
Yes – Call Solutions 802-865-9220 for version 1.5 or greater.
6) Are you using Virtual or Maxima from Connectix?
Yes – Call Connectix 415-324-0727 for Virtual 2.03 or Maxima 1.08 or greater.
7) Are you using the Fish or Moire INIT screen savers?
Yes – This is a known compatibility problem, suggest AfterDark or Pyro.
8) Does it boot after removing all third party INITs and CDEVs?
Yes – 1) INIT conflict, add one at a time and restart each time, change the first character of the name of any problem INITs, so that they will load in a different order.
2) Small System heap, increase using Heap Fixer from CE Software, Symantec Utilities or BootMan.
9) Does it boot after zapping the PRAM? (hold down the Control-Command-Option-Shift WHILE selecting the Control Panel from the Apple menu) (With no third party INITs)
Yes – PRAM was corrupted.
10) Have you checked for a virus using such programs as Disinfectant 2.3 or SAM 2.04 or greater?
No – Disinfectant is available free on AppleLink, or from most dealers.
11) Does it boot after deleting the hard drives System Folder and reinstalling the System software using the Apple Installer application? (With no third party INITs installed)
Yes – System was corrupted.
